Project Scope

The Massey Challenge is an annual fundraising event that supports cancer research at VCU Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center in partnership with Sportsbackers. This event is in affiliation with Ukrop's 10k and Apex Systems. This initiative not only promotes physical activity and healthy living but also fosters community engagement and support for those affected by cancer.

By implementing a multi-channel approach, combining digital and print marketing strategies, the Massey Challenge can effectively reach its target audience, inspire participation, and drive donations to support cancer research and patient care.

Marketing strategy

  • Create blog posts, articles and user generated videos related to healthy living, cancer awareness, and the impact of fundraising.

  • Utilize platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn to share engaging content, including participant stories, training tips, fundraising milestones, and event updates. Encourage participants to share their own journey using event-specific hashtags.

  • Send out regular email newsletters to previous participants, donors, and subscribers. Include updates, success stories, fundraising tips, and calls-to-action to join or support the challenge.

  • Design and distribute flyers, posters, and brochures to local businesses, schools, gyms, and community centers. Include QR codes or short URLs linking to the event website for easy access to more information and registration.

  • Host information sessions, virtual meetups, or training workshops to engage with potential participants and supporters. Encourage local influencers, athletes, and community leaders to get involved and spread the word.
